Public Welfare Action Report
Project Name: Rebuilding Hope · Community Financial Education Program
Duration: March 2024 – June 2024
Location: East Oakland, California, USA
Beneficiaries: 327 low-income families and youth
Background East Oakland is one of the areas in California with the most significant income disparity. Many families lack basic financial knowledge and are trapped in the cycle of \”intergenerational poverty.\” Sureim Investment Guild firmly believes that true financial freedom begins with cognitive awakening. We decided to transform the concept of \”cognitive upgrading\” into a replicable and sustainable public welfare education model.
Project Details
- Establishing \”Financial Literacy Classrooms\”: Offering a three-month basic financial management course, covering budget management, savings techniques, credit systems, and risk prevention.
- Launching the \”Parent-Co-Learning Program\”: Inviting parents to participate in parent-child financial literacy workshops to build a family financial dialogue mechanism.
- Creating \”Community Investment Book Corners\”: Donating over 500 selected books on AI financial management and behavioral economics to be permanently housed in two community libraries.
Project Outcomes
327 residents benefited, with an average increase of 16% in household savings rate.
96 youth completed the course and received the \”Financial Literacy Pioneer\” certificate.
The project achieved a satisfaction rate of 98.5%, and was awarded the \”City Contribution Medal\” by the City Council.
Project Extension
The project has received support from the California Foundation and will soon be replicated in South Los Angeles. We will continue to infuse the power of long-termism into more overlooked areas through a combination of ZERO AI and cognitive toolkits.
